I had a very fun time yesterday at the tournament I played in. I played against two good friends and one guy that always tries to pull shenannagins on me. I brought a very unfriendly list to the tournament because I was trying to snatch first place. Here is the Imperial Guard list I brought.
CCS: 4x plasmaguns, 1x plasma pistol, chimera
2x Veteran squads: 3x plasma guns, heavy bolter HWS, chimera
PCS: 4x grenade launchers, chimera
3x Infantry squads: flamer, heavy bolter HWS, chimera; one squad had a grenade launcher instead of a flamer
2x Vendettas
2x Manticores
squadron of 2 Basilisks
Vehicle count: 14
Scoring units: 6
Game 1: My Arch-Nemesis
This game was a long time coming. The guy I played is always pulling crap during games I have played him in the past. In the past I always felt awkward about calling him out but no more. He brought codex space marines. First off he doesn't have the rest of his devastator squad so he wastes 20 minutes looking for a replacement. This waste of time saved him from being tabled. Bottom line, I seized the initiative and proceeded to advance my CCS to hose his devastator squad on his objective. Any vehicle he had did not make it halfway across the table. They were wrecked, immobilized, or smoking scrap. At the end of the game he had a Predator and rhino that were so damaged they couldn't do anything, five assault marines, and a hurt ego. Disciplined fire objective check! I was impressed that I kept my shooting so disciplined. Usually I screw this up. This victory felt good. Had he not screwed around for so long I would have tabled him no problem. I only lost two chimeras. The squads inside were fine.
IG Rule #1: KEEP YOUR INFANTRY TROOPS IN YOUR CHIMERAS! THEY LIVE LONGER.
Game 2: IG versus the best Chaos Space Marine army I have ever played (this would be my 3rd time against them)
So naturally my opponent has a great list of resilient but small sized units. He builds great lists and his technical game skills are on point every time I play him. This game was spearhead and kill points. He gets to deploy in the nicely spaced out corner of the table and my side has area terrain in 95% of the area I have to deploy in. It was the most awful piece of terrain I have ever seen. By rights there should have been no other terrain on the table as it took up so much space. The terrain lost me the game. I out shot my opponent reaping more victory points, but he snagged 7 kill points to my 4. I almost snagged 4 more kill points but he made some great leadership rolls and I fluffed some rolls that should have been sure things. Like I said before my opponent knows the game so well that he took a bad situation (my massive amount of fire power) and mitigated it with a speedy advance, demon deep strikes, and smart movement into cover. I did wax a Daemon Lord prince thingy in a turn. That was fun. Never leave the barracks without your handy Plasma galore CCS. My opponent won the game, and I was only disappointed by how terrible the terrain was. My opponent's choice of deployment was brilliant. This happens some times. I did however steal the initiative.
IG Rule #2: PLASMAGUNS FOR THE WIN!
Game 3: IG versus Foot Necrons
Goofiest game of the day. My opponent is a good friend of mine. He was hilarious with his brilliant dodging of my fire power. The game was night fighting the entire time. It was brutal. Every turn night fighting was still in effect each of my units on a roll of 6 took d6 strength 8 AP 3 hits. I lost a Manitcore to this. A Vendetta and a few Chimeras took a beating too but survived. I shall reference IG Rule #1. I had some funny ordinance barrages on my opponent. I scattered the full 3d6, but he was on foot so voila. I always hit something. My psyker battle squad shined in this game with weaken resolve. I will be taking them more often. I ran off a huge unit of 20 Necron warriors. Some well placed heavy flamer and flamer action helped me to erase my opponents scarab unit. I HATE SCARABS!!! Nasty buggers. My friend conceded and gave me the game and incidentally 3rd place in the tournament. The guy I lost to in the second game won the tourney.
IG Rule #3: ARTILLERY, ARTILLERY, ARTILLERY!!! and..... ARTILLERY!!!!!!!!!!
All in all a great tournament. I had loads of fun. I finally have the list that I feel comfortable with, and I am playing smarter. It took long enough.

It was a good time. I think 90 minutes for a round is too short. Though I have no way to remedy that given the amount of time we have to play. I'm glad I didnt outflank with my fast attacks, they probably never would have came into the game!
interesting guard list although with no hydras its hardly over powered and no its not an unfreindly list at all id say from the standard 5 hydras and manticore with 3 melta vets in vendettas ur list is very freindly and id prefer ur list with my dark eldar than the standard template
